Big Buddha Phuket

Another day - another Buddha 

Big Buddha is about half an hour away from Patong Beach. Myself, Ciara and Anthony arranged a price with a driver (1000baht) to bring us, and wait for us there to bring us back down. 

The Buddha statue is huge and overlooking Phuket and out to the water. There is a lot of information about Buddhism around the base and underneath the statue. There is a temple with a monk giving blessings on the grounds as well. 

On the way back from Big Buddha- the driver pulled over on the side of the road and came around to me with his phone. He had google translate up and had a message saying ‘I go shopping 10 minutes. I’ll make the stop’. I figured he meant that he needed to get something so I said that was fine we would wait in the car. After driving for 10 more minutes we pulled into a big driveway for ‘Gems International’. The driver got out of the car again and went to Anthony again with the same message on his phone. After some back and forth we realized that he wanted us to get out to go shopping in the gem store...no chance of that happening. Back to Patong then and no more mention of stopping to buy gems.
