Travel Day: Pha Ngan to Krabi

Travel Day: Pha Ngan to Krabi

Six hours- two taxis, two ferries and a bus later.

We stayed in Baan Tai in Pha Ngan which is about ten minutes from Tong Sala Pier. The boat was at 7 and they board a half hour before so we headed out of the hostel at 6.15 and a songthaew saw us walking up the lane and was waiting for us.

We collected our tickets and stickers ( a lot of the ferries make you wear a sticker with either the destination or type of ticket you have) and boarded the boat. Not realizing that we had to actually get two ferries- we were on the first for about an hour and then onto the second boat (I think the switch happened in Koh Tao but tbh I have no clue) for another hour and a bit. The crew up the ferry would just start yelling ‘get up get up get out’ to tell us we were at a stop which is alarming especially when you fall asleep. It was onto a bus then for around 2-2.5 hours on a drive across the southern part of the country to get us from the islands in the east to Krabi on the west.

After another round of yelling ‘get up get up’ we were at the ‘bus station’ in krabi.  There are taxi and bus agents at the station to arrange transfers. We had to wait ten minutes for a minibus to bring us into our hotel in Ao Nang
